People at higher risk are typically: seriously ill; not mobile; have spinal cord injury; do not eat a proper diet; wear prosthesis; smoke; are incontinent of stool or urine; have diabetes; have COPD or heart failure; have Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or heart failure; or have a broken hip or have had a recent hip surgery.

It can be punctured, but not very easily. If you have a cat it is best to put a durable sheet over the pad and you will be fine. If it does get punctured a repair kit is included.

The mattress pad is not built for a recliner, but it can work. If the chair is in a reclined position it can go vertically aligned with your body. In a seated position it can go horizontally and run over the edges of the chair.
